I was born and grew up in England, the son of an artist. Looking back, I think I remember that there was always the faint odor of oil-paint in my house, more pronounced on the days my father was using linseed oil and turpentine, or some fish-based stuff he coated his canvases with.

I've always been able to draw and using space became one of my earliest developed and most satisfying skills. Eventually, I found that the same aptitude that made me good at, say, packing suitcases also guided me in composing pictures.

I always tried to imitate my father's economy of line and his ability to understand and replicate the colors and shapes he could see. My paintings began as quite a bit less representational than his, far more abstract, but lately, I've become fascinated with buildings and bridges.

I mostly try to convey space, light and distance to give the viewer the sensation of floating, sometimes amongst geometric figures. This often tends to give my paintings a slightly surreal look and feel.

I particularly enjoy sitting with clients to explore their special requirements for a picture - not just what it should show but what feeling it should produce.
